Thank our Vets! Metro StandDown August 6th & 7th

What is a StandDown?
Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) hosts a StandDown for homeless veterans. The idea is to bring many services to one location and make them more accessible to homeless veterans who otherwise may not seek out services or take advantage of benefits due to them. Click here to read about the History of the StandDown.

Where is it?
This year's StandDown will take place at the Boy Scout Base Camp in Fort Snelling.

What happens there?
Services range from information and assistance with veteran benefits, Social Security, taxes, legal issues, housing or employment to being able to get a haircut, personal hygiene kit, clothing or a chance to meet with a chaplain or attend a 12-step meeting. All of this over a two day period where hot meals are served, entertainment is provided and every veteran is surrounded by other veterans and treated with the dignity and respect they deserve no matter their current circumstances.

How Can I help?
Volunteers are needed on both the 6th and the 7th. MACV is recruiting volunteers to set-up/tear-down, do clothing distribution, sort/organize clothing and surplus items for distribution, and refreshment duty. Thank our Vets by lending a helping hand!

If you are interested in helping, please call Molly (952-945-4161)! RSVP volunteers will be eligible for partial mileage reimbursement.
