Become a Tutor this School Year!

Impact someone's life for the better...become a Tutor.

Tutor a child in your neighborhood this year! We have locations all over the metro area to fit your schedule. Get to know your community in a new way through volunteering at an afterschool program. Simply by showing up and having a passion for learning, you can make a difference in a child's development.

Promote Literacy with Common Bond Communities
Literacy is essential to social justice. Help create change in your community by teaching a child or adult how to read. We need volunteers in: Hamline/Midway, Union Park, Lake Phalen, Cathedral Hill, Summit, Seward, Phillips, Edina, & Minnetonka. You’ll make a lasting impact on your neighbors and give a boost to someone working hard to catch up. Specific positions: Study Buddies, Homework Center, Teen Program, pre-K Program, Adult Tutoring, English Classes & Conversation, and more.

Homework 'n' Hoops
Project for Pride in Living's (PPL's) wide range of volunteer opportunities lets you share your talents and expertise to strengthen our community. Volunteer in a community center based "Homework 'n' Hoops" program, a one-on-one school based setting in Richfield, small groups in St. Paul or New Hope, or as a mentor for a student transitioning out of long-term homelessness.

Urban Ventures Learning Lab
Do you have one hour per week to get to know an elementary or middle school student? Are you interested in helping with homework and building a relationship? Consider joining Urban Ventures in building academic leadership skills to help give children the opportunity to rise out of poverty. Tutors work with students on math and literacy as well as act as a positive role model on a weekly basis.

Minneapolis Public Schools -- Intergenerational Program
The Volunteer MPS Intergenerational Program gives adults 50+ the opportunity to share their skills, talents and experience with children in meaningful classroom activities. The program promotes positive relationships between children and older adults, enriches children's academic and social development and nurtures their self-esteem. Volunteers work under the direction of the classroom teacher. They work one-to-one with a student or with a small group of students to encourage them and help them learn.

Various opportunities in Tutoring at the following school districts:
